THE MEDIUM: An Opera

Madame Flora is a scammer, a fraudster, an opportunist with a drinking problem. She supports her daughter, Monica, along with a mute servant boy named Toby, by staging phony seances and cashing in on the grief of others. One eventful night, a seance goes off the rails as the grieving victims panic and then suddenly there's a "phantom hand."...It's best not to give more of the plot away, but it's fair to remind our audiences that while it's OK to sit on the edge of your seats, please refrain from falling out of your chairs completely as this dark and disturbing story arrives at its tragic and deadly conclusion. You can relax when you exit the theater and tuck yourselves in for the night...maybe...This is a show you won't want to miss, and won't easily forget.

THE MEDIUM is a spare, hour+ long, two-act opera sung in English written by Gian Carlo Menotti, one of the most frequently performed opera composers of the twentieth century. This is a truly unique opportunity to experience this amazing piece of music in the casual, up-close and personal atmosphere that's Actors Cabaret.
